Growing up in Western Queensland I had been involved with horses all my life, mustering, competing in Campdrafting and Sporting Events and helping my father break in horses for all the neighbouring properties and then taking them for training. As I rode around the paddocks I would dream of owning a Pony Stud, where I go that idea from I have no idea. I would write to Barolin Stud about their Ponies after they advertised in the Queensland Country Life.
I bought my first Australian Stud pony from Robert and Jo Koremans, Rahane Sarah by Belmont Candy with a filly at foot by Fairway Orana named Coochin Dresden. Sarah was a wonderful kids pony teaching so many children to ride and so did her foals.
My next purchase in 1981 was the lovely Welsh B mare Rahane Leura by Hever Lyric (imp). Leura was showed successfully and it was her foals that I had great success with. Euston Lyric was Supreme Welsh B at the Brisbane Royal as a 3yr. old. He was sold to Darwin. Euston Lisa and Lilting were shown with great success. Rahane Rebecca was bought as a yearling also by Hever Lyric (imp), she was the most wonderful pony and broodmare. Rebecca won so many championships led and under saddle when we were very mcu novices at Showing.
My first stallion was the successfully shown Owendale Cravat Welsh B by Croston Cufflink (imp) . Cravat left some lovely ponies, my most successful were Euston Lilting, Euston Expozay now in NZ and James Cove Minerva Rose.
My next stallion I bought in 1998 as a weanling was Rathowen Parody by the very successful stallion Courtland Boy Blue (imp UK) from Dalveen Gregory of the Rathowen Stud. Pax as he is known was a dream show stallion, Supreme Riding pony at his first show The Toowoomba Royal as a yearling never beaten at the Brisbane Royal, Champion twice and Supreme once. He is now retired and producing wonderful ponies led and now ridden.
Their successes are too numerous to mention.
Our aim is to produce show Galloways and large ponies with wonderful temperaments. We are only a small stud as its my hobby not a commercial venture. I use Welsh B, T.B. and Riding pony mares.
